Premiere: AI-Driven Weeding Tool at Agribex 2025
At Agribex 2025, we will present our new AI-controlled active weeding tool for the first time. This innovation, developed within the AgrifoodTEF project and integrated into our hoeing machine, takes precision agriculture another step forward.
Visitors to Agribex will be able to witness the premiere live at the ILVO booth (Palace 5, booth 5200). This year, ILVO will again have a strong presence with demonstrations on robotics, precision agriculture, and data innovation.
AI at the wheel: hoeing with surgical precision
The tool uses an AI camera that distinguishes crops from weeds in real time. The weeds are then precisely removed using hydraulically powered Hardox blades. These blades are positioned on both sides of the crop row, minimizing the untreated strip. Because the system accurately detects the plant center, it can also work safely underneath the leaves.
The setup consists of a single central control unit with expandable modules, allowing the machine to be easily adjusted for multiple rows.
With this active hoeing tool, we take a clear step toward more efficient and sustainable cultivation practices. AI technology and robust mechanics reinforce each other here in a way that enables faster, more precise, and cleaner hoeing.
